You know how it is...damp and busy!! I'm sure the ning thing is going to get more traffic, just maybe once everything isn't so busy all the time, at least that's how i feel. Yes will be teaching about the 'Once in a thousand Year' cumbria floods.
Hi kevin
moving to a small independent school like bolitho saved my teaching career! i'd had two years of hell in the medway towns and needed a big change, how lucky i found myself in penzance.
you'll love it (and hate it, obviously). having been a housemaster for two years early on in my time here i think i can honestly say it's a lot of fun but you'll come to appreciate and highly value your free time. The kids will be a different kettle as well. i found the parental side of things daunting but its quite the opposite. they can offer a lot of free trip potential too.
good luck in grimsby.

Just wanted to let you know that unfortunately our department will be unable to attend the 1 day LEA conference. However, we are keen to stay involved and will be interested in attending any future meetings.
We have meet before, I was one of the other teachers on the QKS field trip to St Bees with Mike, I have moved schools now. I am hoping to attend the INSET on the 5th, having a few problems sorting out the booking but hope to have sorted that by monday.
Thanks for getting back so soon. Its both for career development as I am involved in G and T as a whole in school and for the Geography department. I would like to focus on classroom activities and enrichment activities. Anything that we can put into practice in the department. We haven't recieved anything just yet about the conference but I will let you know if we are going and if so, one of us can collect the information from you there if it is easier.
Thankyou so much for all your help. If there is anything you need, just let me know
How are you? Thanks for the comment about Gifted and Talented on the geography Key stage 3 ning. I have only just had chance to read it. Have written a comment about it there but would really appreciate any material or information from the conference.
Thanks
Kathryn
Hi Kevin
Great to meet you last Tuesday in Peterborough. Hope you got back safely to Cumbria in good time.
Just looked at your excellent video of the 'Journey to Work' set to Bono- what a fantastic route to school. It has inspired me to use this with my Year 7 students and get them to replicate a similar type of thing.
Best Wishes
Graham
I'm here http://www.marycooch.com - all the games on games4geog are either free HotPotatoes or else from History teacher Andrew Field's Content Generator site here: http://www.contentgenerator.net/ You don't need to know any html at all or even need to get them online -you can use them on your IWB from your computer. Well worth a look.
Hi Kevin,
Great to meet you too, I think we're defo heading towards OCR A following discussions today, so it will be good to work with you. As for dartboard thing, I did ask for a e-copy of it from my HOD, but she didn't get round to it before leaving tonight, so I guess that's of no use to you. I will send it on though when we're back from fieldwork just for future ref. Hope your INSET goes well,
Kyla
Hi Kevin, Nice to hear from you again. Sorry to hear about CGP. How are you enjoying your new school?
My profile picture was taken in India last year in Rishikesh at the foothills of the Himalayas. Im on a balcony overlooking the Ganges. It was a great trip. I want to go back one day.
I will hopefully put some things on here over the next few weeks.
Thanks for setting the ning up. It is a really good idea and place to swap ideas.
Hello Kevin,
Thanks for the comment. I found this site via Yahoo search, not Google, although it is found on Google too! I'm a member of the AQA Ning and have found it really useful but to find a local one is great! Kathryn is the teacher you met at the GA conference. I asked her if she had joined but she wasn't sure beccause she'd joined so many things recently! If she hasn't I'm sure she will soon.
Got to go before tea burns but will just say that the photo is one of Osama Bin Laden, a 'tame' deer who resides in a cave near Corran, Lochalsh! I have a bruise on my hip from when he got a bit fed up of providing photo opportunities for visitors and gave me a quick stab with his antlers!! Never work with children and animals, eh?
Hi Kevin
I never got to see your note til now. I am in Powys, further east than Machynlleth. It is just outside Rhayader, 50m above the Wye - not a major flooding problem there! Our students come from all over, UK, local authority drop-outs + Dubia, Singapore, S Africa, Nigeria and .... We also cater for kids who have special skills - tennis players, Motor X, dancers who have more outside commitments than regular school permits. The school website is http://www.interhigh.co.uk/ by the way. I also have a couple of wikis to save lessons and homeworks to and a blog for interesting stuff - the blog is at http://lindym.wordpress.com/.
its been nice chatting to a real person!!
Thanks for asking
Hi Kevin - yep Cairn Gorm.
Actually taken from high on the Fiacaill ridge looking across to the next coire - Coire An Sneachda.
I had trouble downloading photos today - stopped the upload of 3 pics after 3 hours!
I'll try again with reduced resolution versions.

Hi Lindy,
That's really interesting - whereabouts in Mid Wales? - we had a house in Commins Coch nr Machynlleth in the holidays when we were in a boarding school - love that part of the world - as you say, similar to here (especially the far West where we are, away from the crowds).
An online High School - work from home - sounds an interesting idea - is there a webpage?
